“To the maximum of embarrassment”, “ridiculous”: Yanis Marshall’s intervention at the NRJ Music Awards creates unease

The red carpet was rolled out this Friday evening in front of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. From Soprano to Matt Pokora via Slimane, Juliette Armanet, Big Flo and Oli, Clara Luciani or even Angèle, the greatest artists of the moment paraded there to participate in the NRJ Music Awards, the major musical competition of the year organized by NRJ and TF1. Alternately during the evening, the latter performed on stage and some of them (see the publishing list) one or more prizes.

Some artists were, for their part, simply present at the Croisette to award one of the evening’s prizes. This was the case for Yanis Marshall, current dance teacher at the star Academy, who presented Angèle with the Award for French-speaking female artist of the year. Before announcing the name of the lucky winner, the choreographer known for dancing in heels wanted to make the public smile by leaving a few valves. “Good evening Cannes […] I have the honor of presenting one of the most prestigious titles of the evening, but first we will do the evaluations of the week. Clara, very nice fringe movement, continue. Juliette, you put disco in my life, you won’t be named this week […] Amel, it’s not 1, 2,3, it’s 5, 6, 7, there’s what. Izia, beautiful energy my darling, you have an appointment in the principal’s office. Angèle, iconic assessment, does not change anything. Camelia, you wouldn’t skip school, I saw you 4 days ago in the Marais with my dog?“, he says. A humor that obviously did not win unanimous support, just like the very colorful outfit of the dancer.

On social networks, Yanis Marshall is the laughingstock of Internet users. “My god this is ridiculous!!! Yanis Marshall has just wallowed in making a fool of himself in front of the whole of France…”, “Yanis Marshall to the maximum of embarrassment!“, “Never let Yanis Marshall do anything but dance again” or “Is it Carnival?” are the comments that can be read since this Friday evening on Twitter.
