This Monday, Pep Guardiola was heard in Chester court during the trial of Benjamin Mendy, tried for rape, attempted rape and sexual assault. The Manchester City coach pleaded in favor of the native of Longjumeau, highlighting his personality.

A witness for almost 10 minutes. This Monday, Pep Guardiola, the coach of Manchester City, was heard on the side of the court of Chester in the context of the trial of Benjamin Mendy. Accused of seven rapes, an attempted rape and a sexual assault against six women for facts that took place between July and August 2021, the defender who joined the Citizens in 2017-2018 (and who has since been suspended more than a year) was defended by his coach, as reported by RMC Sport.

Mendy is a ‘very good boy’ according to Guardiola

Aware of the important expectations on the shoulders of the 2018 world champion, the native of Santpedor has above all wanted to value the personality of a “very good boy” which he called “generous” and “really funny”. Before the jurors, Guardiola recalled the extent of his area of action on his group, necessarily limited to the field. “I control my players when we are together in training. In their private lives, I don’t know what they are doing. I don’t follow the players on social media, so I don’t know what they do outside of training and matches. (…) I am not his father”explained the Manchester City coach.

Last week, Benjamin Mendy testified for the first time in this trial opened since August, explaining in particular not to be Brad Pitt. He is judged alongside another man, Louis Saha Matturie, unrelated to former footballer Louis Saha, prosecuted for six rapes and three sexual assaults. Both men have pleaded not guilty.
