Nicolo Zaniolo seems on the way out. The 23-year-old Italian, booed by the Roman public against Genoa recently, could leave the Roman formation, for AC Milan. Disappointing on the pitch (17 games, 2 goals, 3 assists), regularly absent through injury, Nicolo Zaniolo has not been extended by his club, while his contract ends in 2024.
According to Sky Sports, AS Roma expects between 30 and 40 million euros for the former element of Inter. English formations, like Tottenham and West Ham, would be interested in Nicolo Zaniolo. And according to Foot Mercato, the international with 11 caps would have been offered to PSG. AS Roma would even be ready to accept a loan with an option to buy for the player. It remains to be seen whether the French club will want to recruit an attacking midfielder, while PSG seem provided in this sector of play.
Smalling also on the way out?
PSG could impact AS Roma’s winter transfer window, but not in the Nicolo Zaniolo file. Indeed, the French club could soon secure the services of central defender Milan Skriniar. The 27-year-old Slovak, at the end of his contract with the Italian club in June 2023, could be sold to the French club by Inter. To compensate for this departure, the training coached by Simone Inzaghi would look in the workforce of José Mourinho.
Indeed, according to the revelations of journalist Nicolo Schira, Inter would intend to offer a contract to Chris Smalling, free next June. The 33-year-old Englishman, holder of AS Roma this season (24 games played, 3 goals), could accept the Roman challenge, with a salary of 3.5 million euros per year. With a bonus, a significant signing bonus.
AS Roma and PSG could therefore be linked on several issues, before the winter transfer window closes.
